Norwich Skatepark Opening Jam

Now then, now then.

Peado-phil, AKA Phil 9mm, AKA R Kelly sent over some good snaps and a write up from the recent jam to celebrate the opening of Norwich Skatepark.

The park may not look like much but it's the fruit of 15 years of persuasion, a daft council and some skateboarders. Good work all round.

At's futern Jimmy Apps init!

As with any new skate park theres a epic tail of woe about how it all came to be, but lets be honest, we have all heard it before so I wont bore you to much with that.

But unlike most opening jams, the park had actual been open nearly two months before the jam. Which was kind of nice, giving everyone the chance to get used to how the place rides.

The day started with a demo from the guys at Seventies and the Revolutions crew. Then it was jam time!

People who wanted to ride in the jam where broken down into 3 groups, under 12’s, 13 to 16 and 17 +.

High lights from the jam being;

A super stoked 10 year old winning a pair of glow in the dark grips for pulling a surfer.

Little 14 year old Tom Foreman, bar spinning all over the park, in the process winning his age group and a pair of bright orange bars, which where promptly up on Facebook for sale within 12 hours of winning.

Patrick Ryan cranking as fast as he could, three-sixtying out of the new, and into the old plastic fantastic park.

Jimmy Apps flairing the nipple.

And Matt McIntyre going higher and smother than anyone.

A massive thanks to Chris and all the Revolution guys, are MC for the day Tim Wood, who was not scared to heckle anyone, be it a bmxer, girls in bikinis or the shady food wagon selling multipack cans of Coke for a quid.

The fellows from Seventies, img, 4 down & dub clothing who travelled down from Liverpool for the day. They rode like champs and made plenty of time to chill and get picture with the kids. Plus IV never seen so many Scott Ditchburn signatures.

But the biggest thanks has to go to the riders, a 7 year wait off yes, no’s and maybes. Finally paid off and we now have a park we can call are own. Maybe things do come to those who wait after all.
